JOIN US FOR ITALIAN COOKING CLASSES
3 ITALIAN COOKING CLASSES in March and April 2008 are being jointly sponsored by SOFIA (Society of Fairfield Italian Americans) and the At-Home Store. There will be two Thursday evening classes and one on Sunday afternoon. Dates are March 27th, April 6th and April 17th.
Location: At Home Store. 52 North Main Street (west side of the square)

Tuition: $60 for all 3 classes* ($40 for SOFIA members)
Maximum class size of 25. Enrollment confirmation based on payment

CLASS #1, Thursday evening March 27, 2008 7-9pm with Steve Boss
Steve has a great passion for Italy, its people and its food. His love for Italy started at age 15, when he began his six-year tenure working at an Italian restaurant in St. Louis. He tries his best to speak Italian when he tastes his way through Italy several times a year.
3 Region Italian Spring Fling
Learn how to prepare a simple, complete meal including antipasto, first course (primo) and dessert (dolce).
Antipasto-Bruschetta with traditional pesto alla genovese from Liguria.
Primo Piatto-Asparagus Risotto with homemade broth from the Veneto
Dolce-Strawberries with traditional balsamic vinegar from Emilia Romagna
CLASS #2, Sunday 2-4pm, April 6, with Catarina Civera Tomaselli Roesler
Caterina grew up in Florence and lived in Rome. Catarina says that every child in Italy can cook because cooking is a pastime. They watch their grandmothers and moms cook, and then when the children get married, it’s traditional to receive family recipes.

CLASS #3: Thursday evening, April 17, 7-9pm with Alesssandra Meschini
Alessandra Meschini is living in Des Moines, but was born in Rome and grew up in Viterbo, Italy. She has been cooking since she was a child, learning traditional Italian dishes from her mother and grandmother. You may remember her preparing homemade pasta in the town square last June at The All Things Italian Art Walk in Fairfield. She will share a bit about the history of Italy and the origins of the food she prepares.
